1/30/12

Weight: 119

Today I ate:
1 banana
1 White Chocolate Macadamia Luna Bar
1 "french bread" roll and cup (12 oz.) of Spicy Black Bean Chili from Zoup!
1 500mL diet Pepsi Wild Cherry
1 can of diet Mtn. Dew
A bowl of pasta with hummus sauce (jar pasta sauce + roasted red pepper hummus+ 1 tbsp. basil) and veggies (mini bella mushrooms, carrots, red onion, garlic, red bell pepper, balsamic, oil, garlic salt & pepper)
Smoothie with spinach, 1 banana, 8 or so strawberries, and a Dole pineapple cup

1/29/12

Weight: 120.2 (this is either the sodium in the processed foods at work, or PMS)

Today I ate:
Smoothie (two full glasses) with several handfuls of baby spinach, a handful of kale, six strawberries, one banana, 1 Dole Pineapple fruit cup in 100% juice, and 1/2 cup Almond Breeze Almond/Coconut milk blend (this is new and really tasty! It's about 45 calories per cup). This is about 400 calories, but a normal person would probably just have one glass ;)
A bowl of Frosted Toast Crunch with the Almond-coconut milk (probably twice as much as I had yesterday, but I'm under the weather and feel a bit like pigging out)
Spinach salad with kale and arugula, dried cherries, chickpeas, carrots, fresh dill, and dijon balsamic vinaigrette

I got a really bad migraine so I didn't feel like eating dinner :(

1/28/12

Weight: 118.9

Kind of a shameful packaged foods day...
Today I ate:
Frosted Toast Crunch (a variety of Cinnamon Toast Crunch, but I actually prefer the original) with Silk Almond Milk (unsweetened original) - I didn't measure it, but I was careful to not fill up the bowl. Cereal portions on the nutrition labels are ridiculously small but if you eat more you're getting a sugar bomb :-P
Tofurky Vegan Cheese Pizza (yeah, the whole thing... about 720 calories)
Two tablespoons of Almond Butter (right out the jar... PMS is a fun time)
Two bowls of this corn chowder recipe with 1/2 of a french baguette (yay, carbs... indeed, the full-size, long kind)
1 glass of diet Wild Cherry Pepsi

Chickpea Salad (recipe here from Angela Liddon) on 100-calorie wrap
Another cup or so of the chickpea salad

1/26/12

Weight: 120.9 (P.F. Chang's always bloats me up a couple of pounds... but it's just water weight!)

Today I ate:
1 banana
1 Lemon Zest Luna Bar
1/4 P.F. Chang's Ma Po Tofu with brown rice (it was about a cup in the order last night and I'd mixed it in, so I'm getting whatever is left)
1.5 cups of peas with about 1.5 tbsp. Earth Balance (non-hydrogenated soy margarine) - I lovelovelove green peas and have owned several "Peas on Earth" t-shirts, magnets...
Chickpea Salad (recipe here from Angela Liddon) on 100-calorie wrap
Whole Foods Tofu Spring Rolls (2) with Thai Peanut dressing (I think they're actually "Summer" rolls, though.  Spring rolls are fried, whereas these had that soft ricepaper wrapping - much healthier)
Tons of baby kale chips (used Tiffany's recipe, and they were really tasty! Omnivore husband liked them, too)
1 diet Mtn. Dew
1 glass of Coke Zero

1/25/12

Weight: 119.4 (down .4 lbs. probably due to normal fluctuation/fiber intake.  Those wraps I ate last night have 48% DV of fiber... eek!)

Today I ate:
Smoothie with: 1 banana, 1 pint of raspberries (too much, but I had to use them up or they would go bad), half a pound of strawberries (also too much, 5 or 6 would be perfect), and a couple handfuls of baby spinach
1 sliced red bell pepper with 150-calorie pack of hummus
P.F. Chang's Vegetarian Lettuce Wraps (about half the order)
P.F. Chang's Ma Po Tofu and 1 cup brown rice (about 3/4 of the order)
Glass of Pinot Noir
About a cup of cookie dough dip... not my proudest week ;-)

1/24/12

Weight: 119.8 (up .2 lbs... probably overdid it with the Cookie Dough Dip)

Today I ate:
1 banana
1 Lemon Zest Luna Bar
1 snack-size roll of Ritz crackers with 150-calorie portioned Sabra hummus (ran out of celery)
About a cup of the cookie dough dip... it thickened up in my fridge so I ate it in a bowl with a spoon, LOL
2 100-calorie whole grain tortilla wraps filled with spinach and arugula salad (chickpeas, carrots, dijon balsamic vinaigrette, 150-calorie pack of hummus, and trail mix - cranberries, almonds, soy beans)
1 can of diet Mtn. Dew
same vitamins as yesterday, though I'm now out of Jarrow Bone-Up and waiting for my DEVA Vegan Cal-Mag+ to arrive

Disclaimer

It's easy being vegan (*ahem* near-vegan). I swear! I can't necessarily claim I eat a *healthy* diet because I'm a big-time junk-food fan, but I wanted to get back into tracking what I eat because I used to weigh 10 lbs. less and I know it's because I have been naughty lately (and stopped smoking about a year ago... and stopped exercising about six months ago...).  Still, if I'm going to share what I eat I knew I should let you all know the following:

*I'm not a food expert of any kind.
*I'm not a chef.
*I'm not a nutritionist.
*I'm not a doctor of any kind (no masters in Literature, even!)
*I'm not affiliated in any way with the brands of food I'm eating.
*I do recommend a vegetarian/vegan diet, but my endorsement is personal and I'm not going to back up anything with science because I'm not a scientist or researcher.  Please seek out horrifying PETA videos on your own.
*I'm at a healthy weight (by BMI).
*I have a clean bill of health (though I do have acne and eczema and I have had these chronic conditions my entire life, including when I was an omnivore prior to 2007).
*I don't intend this blog to inform anybody how they should eat or what they should ethically believe.
*I'm not even 100% vegan! I don't wear leather or silk, but I do use cosmetics that have not been confirmed to contain zero animal products coming from certified cruelty-free companies. I would certainly prefer to, though.
*I'm like 90% vegan (arbitrarily assigned percentage), but have a 100% vegetarian diet (to the best of my knowledge).

My goal with this blog is to help me track just how much not-good stuff I eat and own up to it (and hopefully reduce it!).  The reason I'm doing it in blog form is just to satisfy the curiosity of anybody who stumbles upon it.  Am I the only person who wonders what other people eat?  Especially people who are skinny and super-healthy (haha)?

Stats: 28 years old
Ethnicity: white mutt (German, Polish, Russian, Jewish, Catholic... we have hips and boobs)
Height: 5'4" or 1.62 meters (162 cm for the math-impaired)
Weight: 119.6 lbs. or 54.2 kg this morning (after using the bathroom, not drinking water or eating, and no clothes XD the standard method)
BMI: 20.7 this morning

I'll try to put up pictures of my (clothed) body sometimes... especially if I manage to lose/gain a few pounds.

Today I ate:
1 banana
1 Lemon Zest Luna Bar
several sticks of celery with a 150-calorie portioned hummus by Sabra
2 cans of diet Mountain Dew
About a cup of Punk Rock Chickpea Gravy over a few servings of Ore-Ida waffle-cut french fries (my vegan version of Poutine... meat-eating husband also likes, but he says it's more similar to chili fries.  I've never actually had real poutine, but I must say my version looks much less disgusting LOL)
A bowl of roasted broccoli made by my husband (I know it had some EVOO, garlic salt, and red pepper flakes. Possibly also Teriyaki sauce)
A snack-size roll of Ritz crackers with Chocolate Covered Katie's Cookie Dough Dip

Countless: cups of coffee (okay, I should start counting these!), cups of water

Vitamins:
DEVA vegan pre-natal vitamin (not unlike a multi-vitamin, but makes your hair and nails extra-nice)
Jarrow Bone-up vegan formula (for calcium)
VegLife Supreme Vegan D 2000 IU (everybody in the northern hemisphere probably needs to supplement Vitamin D in the winter)
